PORT Adelaide's best player and its captain Travis Boak has returned to Adelaide from Alice Springs on crutches with a sprained ankle.

Boak didn't put any weight on his right ankle which was strapped when he arrived at the airport this afternoon and he may require scans tomorrow morning.

But the fact that he hurt his ankle in the opening minutes of Saturday's win over Melbourne, hobbled from the field and into the rooms but later returned to run out the match has Power officials hopeful his injury is nothing more than a sprain and he should be right to play St Kilda next weekend.

Boak spent Saturday night icing his sore ankle before the flight home.

The other player on crutches at the airport was lightning fast midfielder Matt White who copped a knock to the shin, while Chad Wingard appeared in good spirits with his teammates despite being stretchered from the ground on Saturday with concussion after a heavy collision with star forward Jay Schulz.

"I think Chad's probably the least of our worries at the moment, there are a few sore bodies out there but all those guys like Boaky and Whitey will be looked at over the next few days and hopefully they pull up for St Kilda," Power big-man Justin Westhoff said.

With Hamish Hartlett available after serving his one-week suspension and Dom Cassisi a chance to return from injury next weekend, Westhoff said coaching staff and selectors would not be tempted to rest Boak for the Round 12 clash against the 16th-placed Saints.

"We want to go in full strength, if those guys can play we want them to play," Westhoff said.

"We get Harts (Hartlett) back this week and hopefully Dom and those guys will boost the list but we definitely want Boaky to play as skipper of the club and we want Whitey back as well.

"It (Saturday) was a little bit hotter than what we've been used to but AFL is a tough game, we've come off a tough month and we're really looking to push ahead and hopefully hold our spot at the top of the table.

"No game is an easy game these days so it's full steam ahead."

The Power will finish Round 11 two games clear on top of the ladder after Gold Coast and Geelong failed to close the gap with losses to Adelaide and Sydney respectively.
