FFA boss David Gallop is confident Alessandro Del Piero will honour his commitment to captain the A-League All Stars despite reports linking the Italian with a move to the United States.

Del Piero left Sydney FC after two seasons in the A-League and is reportedly in talks with Major League Soccer clubs LA Galaxy and DC United.

The All Stars match against Del Piero's former Italian club Juventus — where he spent 19 years and scored a record 290 goals — takes place in Sydney in August, which clashes with the MLS season this year.

But Gallop insists all options were discussed with the 39-year-old football legend before the agreement was reached.

"His retirement from Sydney FC was always contemplated as a possibility, so we were careful to talk to him about that before we came to an arrangement about the All Stars game," Gallop said at the FFA Cup sponsorship announcement.

"He has made it clear that he will recognise his commitment to us and play that into any negotiations he's having, whether it's with the MLS clubs or anywhere else in the world.

"So we are confident that he will be a part of it."

Meanwhile, Gallop says the four sponsorship deals for the new FFA Cup, which kicks off on July 29, are worth a combined $4 million a year, securing the future of the tournament until the end of 2017.

The state leagues have already begun the qualification process, while all 10 A-League clubs enter the tournament in late July.

Westfield was unveiled as the naming rights partner, joining British sportswear giant Umbro, as well as Harvey Norman and NAB.

"Conceptually the competition has always been a good idea, but until we got the dollars and cents behind it, it probably wouldn't have happened," Gallop said.

"Travel is one of the expensive components and making sure match day is presented in a professional way. All of these things cost money."
