SCANS today have revealed the worst for Brisbane ace Daniel Rich who requires a full knee reconstruction.
Rich ruptured his ACL in Saturday's 53-point Q-Clash loss to the Gold Coast.
Lions football operations manager Dean Warren, said the injury was a huge disappointment for Rich and the Club.
"It's obviously extremely disappointing news for both Daniel and our Club," Warren said.
"We are certain Daniel's strong character will get him through this tough period and that he will approach his rehabilitation with absolute professionalism.
"Daniel is not only a fantastic footballer, but a great leader, and there is no doubt our side will miss having him out there."
Rich was playing his 101st game for Brisbane after being taken with pick 7 in the 2008 draft.
It is the most significant injury the booming left footer has suffered following a shoulder injury last season which costs him five weeks on the sidelines.
His absence is also a cruel blow for new coach Justin Leppitsch who has yet to record a win and faces arguably the toughest draw in the competition.
