Teammate Jurgen Roelandts finished second and Elia Viviani third. Simon Gerrans finished fourth but gained vital time bonuses in the two sprints to close the gap to tour leader Cadel Evans to just seven seconds going into tomorrow's fifth stage at Willunga.

"This was the first opportunity for the sprinters," Greipel said.

"We finished first and second and it was a real team effort.

"I'm really happy we finally got the win. It was an incredible team effort and we deserved the win."
