SOCCEROOS coach Ange Postecoglou's attention to detail is usually absolute, but even he is happy to leave one particular form of shooting practice entirely to the discretion of his players.

Where some coaches institute a tournament ban on conjugal relations between the players and their partners, for fear of pre-match exhaustion, Postecoglou would simply prefer not to think about it.

Having already been in camp for several weeks, the news will no doubt be welcomed by the players and their partners, most of whom arrive in Vitoria this week along with their families.

Unfortunately the single players may suffer for their bachelor lifestyles, with no State of Origin-style team-bonding session planned before Saturday's World cup opener against Chile.

However the eligible Socceroos could yet call upon their Winter Olympic counterparts for advice, after the dating app Tinder was all the rage in Sochi during the recent Games.

Thankfully for what is a very youth Socceroos squad, Tinder is widely used in Brazil.

The Socceroos have exclusive use of the Ilha do Bois hotel, which has sweeping views of Vitoria's coastline, but Postecoglou said the doors won't be shut to the players' partners.

"I don't really delve too deeply into it, but I've never had too many issues on that front where people are saying they need to go out,'' Postecoglou said.

"We've got the hotel exclusively but family and friends will be close by, so we'll make sure there's contact between family and friends.

"But those kind of things become pretty secondary for the players themselves,

"With everything we need to do in camp I don't think those things are of primary importance.''

With the Socceroos $301 outsiders to win the World Cup and $6.50 to top Group B according to the TAB, they will need every bit of luck heading into clashes with Chile, Netherlands and Spain.

Asked whether sex the night before the game may actually enhance performance, Postecoglou said the sports science department's performance measures weren't quite that advanced.

"I never ask those questions and you try and you always refer to your own personal experience and from my perspective, for the players and everyone involved I think there's more important things in these three or four weeks,'' he said.
