PICTURE this. Brent Harvey marks the ball 55m out from goals and as he walks back to take the set-shot realises the distance to goals might be beyond him.
Any football fan worth their salt knows what happens next and to prove this, answer the following question.
2014 FOXTEL CUP GUIDE
Question: What is the one thing the man standing on the mark must not do?
Answer: Jump.
The List: Who is the best Candy Man?
We've seen it countless times before. Boomer will walk in as if he is going to take the shot, get close enough to the man on the mark to draw the smother and then abort the kick just as the ball is about to leave his right hand.
His next move is to run around the man on the mark, kick the goal and leave his opponent looking incredibly foolish.
He does it so much even the sense of deja vu has worn away for North fans.
The action performed by Harvey is known as a baulk, but the broader situation — comprised of the baulk and the buy from the opposing party — is called 'selling candy'.
FOX FOOTY'S League Teams is asking fans to nominate the best candy man in the game.
Selling candy is not just about feigning to kick, as Lenny Hayes frequently demonstrates selling a handball can be just as sweet.
Brent Harvey
Boomer's ability to weave around opponents with a baulk is not due to any great disguise or magic, but more his pure speed. The chances are his opponent will know he is going to try and they might realise early, but once Harvey gets those little legs pumping there is no catching him.
TITLE: Lenny Hayes sells candy

Lenny Hayes
Hayes might not be the quickest player, but he has outstanding agility and balance. His ability to change direction with power and maintain his eyeline to give the opponent no cues about where he might move next, is outstanding. Many will recall fondly his double baulk and goal against Melbourne in Round 5, 2012 — only his fifth game back from a knee reconstruction. Hayes' loping style and ability to work his way through traffic with a handball also gives him the luxury to find inch of space with a handball-style candy sell.
Sam Mitchell
Mitchell's ability to sell candy with such ease comes from his kicking skills on both sides of his body. Many players will come undone trying to baulk a player by feigning to kick with their preferred foot and getting caught running onto their non-preferred side. Mitchell's opponents don't know which way to go and if he doesn't enough space in the sell, he is not disadvantaged by having to dispose the ball on his non-preferred side — he doesn't have one!

Cyril Rioli
As brilliant as Cyril is, there isn't many more left-sided dominant players in the game. Put simply, his right leg is for balance only. But like Harvey, Cyril's pace is so electric it doesn't matter. Cyril's candy selling best was on show against Richmond where it was clear that while Cryil might be cruising, others are going at breakneck speed and any change in direction from the Hawk speedster cannot be matched.

Gary Ablett
It's fair to say Ablett will be on most lists the League Teams crew compile,, but you don't need to look too hard for evidence to justify his inclusion in this one. In Round 6 against GWS Gazza got the ball at the top of the square and baulked left and then right before finishing with a snapped goal. Even if you pick his baulk, Ablett will probably fend you off anyway.
League Teams screens on FOX FOOTY on Thursday night at 7.30PM
