NEWCASTLE have extended Canberra's record losing streak at home with a 26-12 defeat of the Raiders. With the sides locked at 12-all at halftime Newcastle were far more enterprising, with Jarrod Mullen returning from a hamstring injury, in the second stanza as Canberra struggled to mount pressure in attack.
Beau Scott crashed over in the 48th minute after a long James McManus break and then threw the final pass for Dane Gagai's 60th minute try after a Joey Leilua bust had put the Knights in good field position.

After landing four from four conversions, a Tyrone Roberts 74th minute penalty goal put the result beyond doubt as Newcastle registered their second win of the year and Canberra slumped to their sixth successive loss at home on Saturday at GIO Stadium. All up, Canberra have won two of their first six games this season.
With Josh Papalii (ankle) returning on the bench, Jarrod Croker opened the scoring in the ninth minute when the Raiders found numbers out wide and the centre dragged opposite Dane Gagai over the line with him for the converted try.

With a strong wind behind their backs Newcastle hit back in the 16th minute through James McManus after Joey Leilua drew two defenders close to the Raiders line and slipped a pass.
In a very even contest rookie Knights hooker Adam Clydesdale worked his way over from dummy half in the 32nd minute, after Croker failed to ground the ball for a no try from the video referee up the other end just a minute earlier.
With another Tyrone Roberts conversion the visitors led 12-6. Massive Canberra prop Shannon Boyd crashed over three minutes from the break after some clever play from hooker Glen Buttriss out of dummy half close to the line.

With Croker's conversion the sides went to the sheds locked at 12-all.
Kade Snowden left the game on the medi-cab in the 63rd minute with concussion after catching Croker's hip while attempting a tackle.
Bill Tupou spilt the ball with the line open in the 69th minute effectively ending the Raiders' hopes of a come-from-behind win.
