THEY are battling to avoid their third successive wooden spoon, but SuperCoaches have emphatically backed the Eels as the most exciting team in fantasy NRL.

Four Eels feature in the top 16 popular players for 2014, the most of any side.

Recruit Nathan Peats (54 per cent) is the most purchased player in the game, with SuperCoaches backing the former Rabbitoh to significantly up his output at the Eels.

SuperCoaches also believe fellow star signing Will Hopoate will re-emerge as one of the NRL's most potent attacking threats, with the former Manly star currently the fifth most popular player in SuperCoach, owned by nearly 32 per cent of teams.

The ever popular Jarryd Hayne is the sixth most purchased player, while SuperCoaches can't seem to resist the bargain $114,900 starting price of Willie Tonga, who starts cheap following two seasons ruined by injury.

Mitchell Cornish (30 per cent, 7th) is the most popular uncapped player, with SuperCoaches hoping he scores the starting halfback spot at Canberra.
