PENRITH have been dealt a potentially cruel pre-season blow after young flyer James Roberts suffered a lower leg injury at training on Friday.
A Panthers spokesperson confirmed Roberts suffered an injury during Friday's training session but could not confirm how serious it is.
Roberst was taken to the doctors after he went down and is expected to have scans on Saturday morning.
The 20-year-old suffered a broken ankle at the start of last season.
A versatile outside back, Roberts joined the Panthers in 2013 after spending two seasons at South Sydney.
