ISRAEL Folau could soon end months of speculation and finally put pen to paper on a new deal with NSW Waratahs and the Australian Rugby Union, Canterbury-Bankstown chief executive Raelene Castle believes.
Folau had agreed to terms with the Waratahs but is yet to make anything official, keeping NRL hopes alive that he may return to the 13-man game.
But speaking at a press conference confirming Ben Barba's release from the Bulldogs, Castle revealed Folau was likely to announce a new rugby deal imminently.
"My understanding is that Israel Folau is going to sign for rugby and that's where it's at," Castle said.
"There should be an announcement any day."
The Bulldogs were one of a number of NRL clubs said to be interested in Folau while Waratahs coach Michael Cheika has remained quietly confident his star recruit would commit to rugby next season.
