Close call ... is this a no-ball? Source:Fox Sports

Cricket, like many sports, is a game of inches.

This fact was once again on display in Mohali on Monday, although 'a game of millimetres' would be a more accurate statement in the case of Michael Clarke's dismissal by Ravindra Jadeja.

Clarke was given out after edging a ball from Jadeja onto his pad and being caught by Cheteshwar Pujara at short leg.

The Australia skipper appeared to have no qualms with the decision, but he was given a reason to stop walking to the pavillion when umpire Richard Kettleborough got out his walkie-talkie to check with the third umpire if Jadeja had over-stepped.

Both teams had an anxious couple of minutes as the TV official, Sudhir Asnani, poured over countless replays that focused on Jadeja's foot.

The main conjecture appeared to be weather the back part of the India all-rounder's heel initially landed behind the line before sliding forward, or if there was never a part of his foot that was behind the line.

Judging by the reaction on Twitter (check the responses @FoxCricketLive) most Aussie fans believed it was the latter, but Asnani disagreed and upheld the original decision.

Just to rub salt in the wound, Jadeja celebrated by raising his hand to make out the number five - the amount of times he's dismissed Clarke in this series.
